Before you rent in Bangkok
Bike rental in Bangkok can be useful, but the city has heavy traffic, fast-moving roads, narrow sois, rain, delivery riders, taxis, buses and police checkpoints. Visitors should check the basics before riding.
Correct licence
Make sure you have the correct motorcycle licence and IDP where required.
Helmet every time
Wear a helmet and avoid unnecessary risk on busy Bangkok roads.
Check the bike
Photograph the bike before leaving and check brakes, tyres, lights and mirrors.
Stay protected
Insurance matters. Many travel insurance policies exclude motorbike accidents unless the rider has the correct licence, wears a helmet and follows local law.
