Frequently Asked Questions
View all FAQs →What does a Thai bank charge to send money abroad?
It varies by bank. Krungsri, for example, charges ฿500 or US$20 per SWIFT transfer where costs are shared, plus the bank's exchange rate.
Do I need documents for large international payments?
Often, yes. Krungsri, for example, asks for supporting documents on outward transfers equivalent to US$200,000 or more, and for some purposes at any amount.
Can a business hold foreign currency in Thailand?
Yes. Thai banks offer foreign currency deposit (FCD) accounts, so you can hold dollars, euros or other currencies and choose when to convert.
How can my business get a better exchange rate?
Use a specialist FX provider such as Vita Capital, which offers competitive rates, forward contracts and a dedicated relationship manager for business clients.
Can I fix an exchange rate for future supplier payments?
Yes. A forward contract locks in today's rate for a payment you'll make later — useful for budgeting import costs.
How do I protect a payment to a new supplier?
Use escrow, so the money is released only when agreed conditions — such as delivery — are met. Vita Capital offers corporate escrow; ask through our team.
